Chinese tourists to Dubai can now benefit from an instant VAT refund system at Dubai Airports.

They can get the amount at the airport in their own currency RMB, through the WeChat app's We Tax Refund platform.

The new service has been launched by the Chinese tech giant, Tencent, and payments service provider, Planet, with the support of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).

It's a seamless and secure way for Chinese visitors to instantly claim back the tax on their purchases.

The initiative also supports Dubai Tourism's efforts to showcase the emirate as a popular and easily accessible holiday destination for Chinese guests.

Dubai has welcomed more than 650,000 Chinese tourists during the first eight months of this year.
