UAE COP28 President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber held talks with the Presidents of Colombia and Bolivia in Brazil on the sidelines of the Amazon Summit.
At a meeting with Colombian leader Petro Gustavo, Dr Al Jaber signalled his commitment to ensuring the summit outcomes on protecting forests and recognising the stewardship of Indigenous Peoples will be reflected on the COP28 agenda.
During his discussions with Bolivian leader Luis Arce, he highlighted the importance of scaling up finance for Indigenous Peoples-led action while building reforestation momentum on the road to COP28.
Dr. Al Jaber also met with Brazil's Minister of Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade Lima. They talked about enhancing cooperation on energy transitions, decarbonising the current energy system and the need for investment in enabling climate-resilient, sustainable health systems.
