The UAE has emphasized the need to restore security and stability in Libya through a political process at the UN Security Council.
Addressing the Council, Mohamed Abushahab, UAE Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, reaffirmed the need for Libya to hold its parliamentary and presidential elections as outlined by the electoral laws.
"The UAE will continue to support all efforts focused on achieving security and stability in Libya and the Arab region, which urgently needs to end its complex crises. This issue has become more urgent today than ever," he stressed.
Abushahab insisted that de-escalation, moving away from the use of arms, and stabilizing the ceasefire is crucial to restoring peace in the region.
