The UAE has strongly condemned the Israeli parliament's recent approval of two laws that prohibit the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) from operating in occupied Palestinian land.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE highlighted the critical and effective role of UNRWA in delivering humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The Ministry underscored that these new laws contravene the UN Charter and international norms, warning that they will exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation faced by Palestinians.

"The UAE emphasises the necessity for UNRWA and other UN organisations to fulfill their humanitarian missions in a safe, immediate, and sustainable manner," the statement read.

The Ministry reiterated the importance of supporting both regional and international efforts aimed at advancing the peace process in the Middle East. It called for an end to illegal practices that undermine the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The UAE's commitment to peace and justice, as well as the safeguarding of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, was reaffirmed in the statement, reflecting the nation's dedication to fostering positive relations and support for its Arab neighbors.

As tensions remain high in the region, the UAE's stance underscores the critical need for continued humanitarian assistance and dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict.
