The UAE, along with France, Germany, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, the UK, the US, and the European Union, have expressed their deep concern about the ongoing violence and catastrophic humanitarian situation in Sudan.
In a statement, the countries, who are all members of the Friends of Sudan Group, said humanitarian supplies and workers must be protected to ensure that assistance can reach people in need.
They also urged the warring parties to stop the fighting and attacks on civilians and agree to an effective and sustained ceasefire.
The group called on both sides to adhere to their commitments agreed in the May 11 Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan and in the ceasefire of May 20, and to return to the Jeddah dialogue to resolve issues around violations and reach a ceasefire that is respected fully.
