The UAE has joined the US, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan and Turkey in urging the UN Security Council to quickly adopt a US resolution endorsing President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
In a joint statement, the countries expressed "joint support" for the "swift adoption" of the "Security Council Resolution currently under consideration".
"We emphasise that this is a sincere effort, and the plan provides viable path towards peace and stability, not only between the Israelis and the Palestinians, but for the entire region," the statement said, adding that it represents a realistic roadmap to peace and stability and a pathway to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The US resolution endorses Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan, which calls for an international stabilization force in Gaza and a yet-to-be-established Board of Peace as a transitional authority.
The UN Security Council will vote Monday on a resolution endorsing Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
