The UAE moon-sighting committee will meet on Tuesday at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi to observe the crescent marking the beginning of the month of Dhul Hijjah.
The sighting of the crescent moon will indicate the start of Eid Al Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah.
The meeting will be chaired by Shaykh Abdullah bin Al Shaykh Al-Mahfouz bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa, along with participation from leading scholars and experts in astronomy.
The committee will review scientific data and detailed reports from relevant agencies regarding the astronomical calculations for the crescent sighting.
Observations will be assessed after sunset on Tuesday.
The Council also encouraged traditional moon-sighters and members of the public to report any sightings.
