President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has pardoned the defendants involved in a brawl during a football match in Abu Dhabi this month, after they were sentenced to a month of imprisonment.
A court in Abu Dhabi has handed down sentences to three individuals involved in an assault during the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final match between Zamalek and Pyramids football clubs on October 20.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court had previously sentenced three individuals to one month in prison and a fine of AED 200,000 for assaulting public employees and inciting disorder during the match.
They were found guilty of assaulting public employees while they were on duty and engaging in actions that disrupted public order and incited riots among fans at the match.
This move is seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation between the UAE and Egypt.
