The former Netherlands and Saudi Arabia boss Bert van Marwijk has been named the new coach of the UAE football team.

The 66-year-old Dutchman succeeds Alberto Zaccheroni who left the post after the Asian Cup earlier this year.

Van Marwijk led the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final, and has also coached Australia in the past.

He is expected to be in the stands for the UAE’s friendly match against Saudi Arabia in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
