Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

The win takes Mumbai to the top of the eight-team points table.

Chasing a 149-run target, Mumbai won the game with 19 balls to spare.

Quinton de Kock was unbeaten on 78 (44 balls), while skipper Rohit Sharma hit 35 (36 balls) and Hardik Pandya struck a quick-fire 21 (not out) off 11 balls.

Kolkata, who won the toss and elected to bat under their new captain Eoin Morgan, struggled to get the runs. Pat Cummins was their top-scorer with an unbeaten 53 off 36 balls.

Rahul Chahar was the pick of the Mumbai bowlers with an economic spell of 2-18 from his four overs.
