Rubiales asked to resign by Spanish Football Federation chiefs

Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) regional presidents are calling for the resignation of Luis Rubiales after he kissed player Jenni Hermoso following Spain’s Women’s World Cup triumph.

Rubiales, who has insisted he will not resign, has faced backlash after kissing the Spainish star on the lips – which Hermoso says was not consensual.

In a meeting with RFEF chiefs, the presidents called for an overhaul of the Federation’s management and released a statement asking for Rubiales to stand down.

On Monday, Rubiales’ mother went on a hunger strike and locked herself in a Spanish church to protest about the handling of the situation.
Rubiales has already been suspended by FIFA and maintains that the kiss was consensual.
