UAE to face Oman in final round of Arabian Gulf Cup qualifier

WAM

The UAE's national football team will meet its Omani counterpart at 6:30 pm today, in the final round of the group stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf Zain 26", within Group One at Jaber Al Mubarak Stadium.

At the same time, another match will be held between the Kuwaiti and Qatari teams at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, to decide the two qualification tickets to the semi-finals.

The Kuwaiti and Omani teams share the lead in the group with 4 points each, while our national team and its Qatari counterpart have one point each.

Our national team is looking forward to winning tomorrow by a two-goal margin to ensure passage to the next round with the advantage of direct confrontations, or winning by a one-goal margin, and resorting to the tournament regulations.

The tournament regulations stipulate that if two or more teams are tied in points, the goal difference between the tied teams (direct confrontations) is used, then the greatest number of goals scored in the matches between the tied teams, then the goal difference in all the tournament matches (the number of goals scored minus the goals conceded by the team), up to the fair play rule (warnings).

Our national team trained at Al Yarmouk Sports Club 24 hours after the match against the Kuwaiti team, led by the Portuguese Paulo Bento. The training included recovery and warm-up exercises, before concluding the preparation phase for the match against Oman and developing the appropriate game plan.
